Nearing Finish to Road House, July 9, 2010

I’m closing in on the finish of this one.  I need to finish out the pressed tin siding, and continue to work on the shadow at the top of the building, and finally finish out the foreground.  Almost there.  It’s been a long day in the studio and I feel it.

Thanks for reading.

Love, love this one. Especially love from the shadow up as it was the only part I could see at first and it made me gasp. Guess my first impression was really good! 🙂 The window pane color is rich, shadow has character as well as the roof. Then I saw the aged lettering on the side of the building and just said, “How does he DO that?!” My husband was sitting next to me working and had to turn around when I said that. He was impressed. You’re a genius!

Well, thank you, Carolye! And tell your husband thanks! I’m pretty excited over the prospects of this one. Getting ready to leave to visit family in St. Louis, but think I’ll take this one along and continue to fiddle with it. Don’t want to leave it. Haven’t figured out yet how to finish out the pressed-tin tiles on the side, or how much dark vs. light to distribute around the truck, guitar player and foreground. Too many questions right now. I hope you’re still finding bliss in your painting!
