Nearly Finished with the Fishing Memories

Fishing Memories Nearly Completed

Fishing Memories Nearly Completed

I have laid down the brush for the night.  Tomorrow, in the daylight, I’ll take a fresh look at this.  I have tried tonight to push the lantern back more into the shadows.  I don’t know that I have done that enough yet.  I cannot take a decent photo of this large painting at night, because my studio lights are grossly inadequate for photography, and so are my house lights.  So, tomorrow I’ll do some more shooting and posting.  Once I’m convinced that I have done all I can, I will sign it can say “Done!”  And believe me, I’ll post it, yet again!

I wish I had something interesting to quote, or to say.  But I’m still very sick with this crud.  I worked our District Spelling Bee, and I was devastated by day’s end–had to come home and head straight for bed.  Feeling really puny tonight, but glad nevertheless that I got to paint.  I’m just not thinking too clearly.

Thanks for reading.

It’s looking great – I see your point about the lantern – from the photos it’s hard to tell how much light falls on it in your arrangement. That old street sign is pretty cool. I hope you feel better soon – I would be hard pressed to keep working when I felt sick.

It’s been hard, painting when I feel so badly. I won’t declare this work complete until I am more sound of body and mind. But your comments have given me much encouragement and inspiration, thank you.

The photo shows a very different dynamic, I’ll be interested to see the next under different exposure. But the impact of the light source in the picture is quite stunning, beautiful modulation with shaded areas. So sorry you still aren’t feeling well – what is going around? Brother in Ireland, friend in Spain and another in Sydney, and family at home, and now yourself with what sounds like the same kind of ‘flu. Hoping you feel better soon – Lemon, honey, a dash of whiskey and bed, avoid running spelling Bees! Tony

Thank you for looking. I need to photograph this under a better light source. There is plenty going on that I’m happy with. I need to work on the lantern more, and I could not get decent exposure on the lantern in tonight’s attempts at photography (I am a poor photographer). I have strep throat, and am finishing 3 days of antibiotics. Apparently I still need some more days. Or more honey and whiskey! Thanks for all your encouragement. Tomorrow should be a better day.
