Demonstration at the Trinity Arts Guild in Bedford, Texas

Art is only a means to life, to the life more abundant. . . . In becoming an end, it defeats itself.

Henry Miller

Today was a particularly trying day at school, and a long one at that.  But I felt generally buoyant, with memories of last night’s encounter with the Trinity Arts Guild.  I was delighted this afternoon to receive some photos taken by the host last evening, and gladly post them now.  I met an amazing group of artists, and really enjoyed the flow of energy back and forth as we talked for over two hours.

Thanks for reading, and thank you, Nancy Thielemann, for sending the photos.

I paint in order to remember.

I journal when I feel alone.

I blog to remind myself that I am not alone.

Wow… had a good turn-out. You look totally comfortable doing your painting demo. The sky is gorgeous. I like this Henry Miller quote…….I think it means that without emotion, art is meaningless?

Good evening, Deanna. Yeah, it was quite a group. I didn’t count, but would say 30 or more were there. I was told to prepare for 30-50. Thank you for your kind comment. The sky was about the only thing that “worked” as I demonstrated, but still I had a good time, and they seemed to as well.

Congratulations on being able to perform in front of an audience. I find it easy enough to give a lecture but hard to do my art publicly. But can understand the joy you recieve from the energy in a group like that. Tony

Hi, Tony. I really don’t mind painting in front of an audience. Long ago, I accepted the reality that things can go wrong–they know it and I know it. I guess that helps me stay loose. We really had a good time together.

I just heard about your workshop on October 25-26
Not being a member, I just couldn’t pull it together this time. I hope you have a great workshop!

Sorry to miss seeing you again. We hope to enjoy this experience–6 hours per day for 2 days. Please let me know how your art excursions are going these days.

I just joined the Southwestern Watercolor Society last month, and did a paintout with them in Corsicana, though the meetings are in Dallas. I also belong to the Corsicana Art League, which has meetings at the Pearce Museum in Corsicana. I am meeting a lot of new artists, working part time and painting the other half of the day with freelance projects. Recently, I did an illustration for Brick Street BBQ’s Tucker Town Hall Event Center.
