“Rain Air” Replaces Plein-air


My second attempt at Plein-air watercoloring was aborted by a rain storm. It’s hard to stay motivated at an art festival when weather chases the patrons from the park.

    I was doing a plein air water-colour in Jerusalem of all places and had not long put a wash onto the sky when a sudden rain squall came before it could be covered the wash got spattered with raindrops. When it dried there was a beautiful lightly mottled sky. One of the few pictures I have kept.
